“The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa...
for he has so much to look forward to.”

This is so very true of Africa and in particular, South Africa and all of her beauty. There is so much to look forward to and to see and do in this wonderful land. A lot of South Africa’s beauty lies in the Zululand kingdom and even more so right here at Ubizane Nature Reserve. With our flowing grasslands and abundant plant and animal life, there is so much to look forward to on your next visit.

Our Safari Lodge boasts plenty of the natural wonders that are home to Ubizane. The Lodge’s heritage spans over 40 years, with rolling lawns full of the famous African aloes and scented thorn trees, which surround the magnificent lodge and create a breathtaking environment for all who visit her splendour.

Look for the sweeping movements of the giraffe as they manoeuvre their long legs through the Reserve, or the shrieking of mischievous monkeys swinging from branch to branch or the startling of an impala as it laps up the water from the watering hole nestled under the majestic marula tree. Grab your binoculars to search for the extensive array of bird life as the flutter through the trees or set your eyes on the watering hole as giraffe, zebra, nyala, impala and kudu make this their daily stop. We have even placed some lights around the watering hole for nighttime, so you could get a sneaky glimpse of animals roaming about, if you’re lucky and quick enough!

With twenty-seven rondavel-inspired room options available, ranging from 2-sleepers to big family sleepers, there is plenty of space for everyone at the Safari Lodge. Each rondavel has been beautifully fitted with our trademark glass paneled sliding doors which allow you an extended view of the Reserve and the chance to glimpse some of the wildlife as the peak out from behind the bushes. Enjoy sun-downers in the comfort of your room as the sun sets for the day while you gaze through the wide-open glass - an opportunity not to be missed.

Choose any of the rooms at our Safari Lodge, which includes:

  • Double-bed or two sleeper rooms with en-suite bathrooms with shower.
  • Four-sleeper family rooms with en-suite bathrooms with both shower and bath facilities.
  • Four-sleeper family rooms with en-suite bathroom with bath and shower as well as an outside shower to give your that ‘one-with-nature’ feeling.

Our Safari Lodge rooms are family-oriented and fully equipped for self-catering, so bring your goodies and make yourself at home. Coffee, tea and sugar are provided in each self-catering room, as well as a fridge, so please feel free to make use of all of these.

A bonus to each of the Safari Lodge rooms is the gorgeous patio that extends out from each - decorated with comfortable furniture and an incredible view, making it impossible not to want to spend as much time as possible outside.

Let the kiddies run and play on the beautiful open lawns or hone their climbing skills in the communal play park area, where they can run and go wild and release all that energy.  Moms and dads can relax over a cuppa and take in the breathtaking view of the immaculate Ubizane Reserve. If lounging by the pool is more your thing, then grab a spot on one of the loungers with a good book or two and soak up some African sun, or look out for the birds from this great bird-watching spot.

We have free WiFi available to all guests. Also at our reception, you will find a hairdryer and safe for your use, please ask our receptionist for these should you require them. We run a laundry service at an extra cost to you, so if you are staying for a lengthy period and would like some clothes washed, please don’t hesitate to ask. There are telephones in each of the rooms for your use if you need to contact anyone urgently or call the front desk for a request.
